After stumbling across this book in a 3 for 2 sale at W H Smiths. ‘Don’t judge a Book by its cover’ it turns out I always do. What drew me to this was the simplicity of its cover, it intrigued me into reading the blurb. And from there I was hooked and I needed this book.
Basic premise of the book is the survival of a more than average teenage girl who has gone through a life changing accident which had such little chances of happening. She got struck by lightning.
Due to the topic of this story, at times it can be very difficult to read it with dry eyes. There are multiple moments in the book when you as a reader realise that life is hard for everyone and that you shouldn’t try to judge anybody because you may not know their story.
I can’t fully describe how I feel about this book and its contents, and thats why its a short review. But the main lesson that this story imparts on the reader is summarised in this little quote.
“You have to learn to love yourself before you can love someone else. Because it’s only when we love ourselves that we feel worthy of someone else’s love.”
Everyone should know this. And I feel that most teenagers should read this book.
